The Importance of Music Fandoms

Something that doesn’t get publically shown that much or talked about is how important and vital it is for artists or bands to have fandoms that passionately follow and support them, and how those fandoms become something equally as important for the fans that involve themselves in them. Music fandoms tend to become so much more than just a group of people who support an artist or band – they become a support system for the fans themselves and a place for them to connect with people, make friends, share their experiences, talk about the things they love, and so much more. With modern times, music fandoms are able to stretch across so many social media platforms too, such as Twitter or Instagram, and serve as a way for the fans within them to talk to one another or even talk to the artist they support.

I’ve seen so many fans talk about all the different ways that being able to have that online escape has helped them so much. So many people have shared their stories about how they turned to music to get them through hard times or a hard life in general, a lot of the times I’ve seen people say how they felt lonely before or didn’t have many friends they could lean on and open to but were able to find that in the fandom they’re now in. It’s amazing to me to see how music can lead people to find a safe space and people that they finally feel like they can lean on and feel close to. Fandoms are definitely something of importance that I honestly think get very overlooked and passed on as something unnecessary but people generally don’t really realize how much of an impact they have on someone’s life and how much it has the power to bring people together all the while bringing together a support system within itself.

When it comes to fandoms in the EDM scene there is the good fans and the absolute most annoying ones. You get the cool kids who travel all over the country to catch their favorite artist perform, BUT then you have the assholes who rail for 10 hours straight without moving to CATCH their favorite artist, which includes Bassnectar fans.
